Kabir Singh is a Bollywood Hindi-language romantic drama film that was released theatrically all over India on 21st June 2019. It is a remake of a Telegu blockbuster film Arjun Reddy, and the film stars Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. Directed by Sandeep Vanga and jointly produced by Cine1 Studios and T-Series, the film revolves around a short-tempered doctor Kabir Singh (Shahid Kapoor) who goes into a path of self-destruction when his girlfriend Preeti (Kiara Advani) leaves him to marry someone else.
Kabir Singh collected more than Rs 379 crore and became the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2019. The movie became available on Netflix from 19th September 2019.

Kabir Singh Story
Kabir Singh (Shahid Kapoor) is a brilliant student at a reputed medical institute in Delhi with severe anger management issues and disrespect for people. He is on the verge of getting suspended from college after getting into a fight when he spots Preeti (Kiara Advani) and falls in love with her. Although being afraid of Kabir in the beginning, Preeti soon reciprocates his feelings and they develop an intimate relationship. Their love story hits a roadblock when Preeti’s father refuses to let Kabir marry her and forcibly marries her to someone else. Thus, Kabir sinks himself into a violent, self-destructive spiral and to cope with his emotions he starts taking drugs, drinks alcohol, etc.

The movie ‘Kabir Singh’ got mixed reviews. The critics have felt that the length of the film was too long and would have been better if some parts of the script were trimmed. While many critics have criticized the movie for glorifying misogyny and toxic masculinity, others have praised Shahid Kapoor’s powerful performance and director Sandeep Vanga’s storytelling and direction. The movie’s leading lady Kiara Advani does not get much chance to show her acting caliber.
The soundtrack of the movie was appealing, especially ‘Bekhayali’ that became a hit song even before the release of the movie.
Kabir Singh’s story is a welcome change from typical love stories that have the power to move the audience. It is a unique story of star-crossed lovers but a love story like this needs some time to get used to.

Kabir Singh Box Office Collection
Kabir Singh is the first A-certified film of India that collected more than Rs 200 crore in the country. It was also the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2019.
Kabir Singh’s domestic box office collection on its opening day was Rs 20.21 crore, which was the highest opening day collection for a Shahid Kapoor film. The film collected Rs 22.71 crore and Rs 27.91 on the second day and third day respectively. With a gross of Rs 331.24 crore in India and Rs 47.78 crore in the overseas, the total worldwide box office collection of Kabir Singh was Rs 379.02 crore until 10th October 2019.
