Angrezi Medium is a Bollywood Hindi-language comedy-drama film that was released theatrically all over India on 13th March 2020. Directed by Homi Adajania and produced by ‘Maddock Films’, Angrezi Medium is a spiritual sequel to the 2017 hit film Hindi Medium, and stars late actor Irrfan Khan. This was Irrfan’s last released movie before he passed away on 29th April 2020.
Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic that resulted in the closing of cinema halls, the movie was digitally released on Disney+ Hotstar on 6th April 2020.

Angrezi Medium Story
The story of Angrezi Medium revolves around a small-town father who promises to fulfill his daughter’s dream of graduating from a foreign university.
Champak Bansal (Irrfan Khan) is a sweet-shop owner in the city of Udaipur in Rajasthan. He is a single parent and is raising his daughter, Tarika (Radhika Madan) who has the dream to travel and study in a foreign country. Both of them share a beautiful relationship, and in spite of Tarika being poor in studies, Champak supports her dream strongly. With some effort, Tarika aces the final examination that earns her a scholarship at a prestigious London University. However, Champak who is involved in a legal battle with his brother Gopi (Deepak Dobriyal) over the name of the sweet shop ‘Ghaseetaram’ unintentionally puts that opportunity at risk. That means if Tarika has to go to London, it would be at the family’s expense and not a school scholarship.
Angrezi Medium’s story brings forward the young generation’s fascination for higher studies in foreign countries while adding some twists and turns into the plot as the narrative moves from Udaipur to London.
Angrezi Medium Movie Reviews And Ratings
The movie ‘Angrezi Medium’ got mixed reviews. The movie has some special moments and sharply written scenes between the characters that turn out to be the highlights of the drama. While the critics have praised Irrfan and Deepak’s performance, some have criticized the film stating that too many sub-plots in the second half were unnecessary. From a film that could have explored how the pursuit of youthful rebellion comes at the cost of losing emotional intimacy with parents, the film turns into an absurd melodrama with fake agents and car chases that destroys the film’s libertarian idea. Dimple Kapadia and Kareena Kapoor Khan light up the screen for a brief period of time but their relationship could have explored in a better way.
Despite some major loopholes in the plot, it was great to see Irrfan battling his critical illness on screen. Irrfan along with Deepak makes you forget this messy movie by their brilliant performances.

Angrezi Medium’s domestic box office collection on its opening day was Rs 4.03 crore. The film collected Rs 2.75 crore on the second day. On its third day, the film collected Rs 2.25 crore that took the total opening weekend collection to Rs 9.03 crore. With a gross of Rs 10.75 crore in India and Rs 2.40 crore in the overseas, the total worldwide box office collection of Angrezi Medium was Rs 13.54 crore until 15th March 2020.
Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic that resulted in the closing of cinema halls, the initial plans of re-releasing the film was cancelled, and the film was digitally released on Disney+ Hotstar on 6th April 2020.
